Kim Kardashian’s got plenty of Finesse

Seriously, I had to do a double-take when I stumbled across a recent Allure article in which Kendall Jenner admitted she uses Finesse Moisturizing Shampoo and she got the idea from her sister Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian, the queen of $40,000 Birkin bags and Kanye-ish opulence, apparently uses the shampoo that retails for less than $4 a bottle.

“Kim likes Finesse shampoo, and now so do I,” Jenner told Allure magazine. “I’ve tried all the expensive things, too. It just works for my hair and makes it so silky. My hair has held up so much that every hairstylist has been like, ‘Why is your hair still so amazing?’ And I’m like, ‘I literally don’t do anything. I just use Finesse.’ And everyone’s like, ‘What?'”

If you too want to lather up like a Kardashian, visit your nearest Walgreens, Walmart or Target to snag the shampoo.facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Why I, a straight woman, bought Caitlyn Jenner’s lipstick

Caitlyn Jenner left the world in shock and awe when she came out looking fierce and fearless on the cover of Vanity Fair. She received both praise and criticism, idolatry and mockery. Jenner forged on. Whether you like Jenner or not, she’s not going anywhere and I’m thankful for that.

About 41 percent of transgender and gender nonconforming people have attempted suicide, according to Poverty continues to be a major problem in the trans community. Many transgender people who enter a homeless shelter are sexually assaulted, if they aren’t turned away all together. An Injustice at Every Turn survey found that 25 percent of transgender employees lost a job because they didn’t conform to gender norms and around 90 percent said they faced transgender-based discrimination. Life as a transgender person is not an easy road to take. We must proceed with compassion and open our hearts and minds to this group of people who at the end of the day are just that—people.

Caitlyn’s lipstick came out in MAC stores and on today, April 7. The lipstick is called “Finally Free” and it’s a lovely, liberating shade of rosy nude that will look lovely on ALL skin tones. The lipstick retails for $17 and 100 percent of the selling price will go to the MAC Aids Fund Transgender Initiative. The lipstick can be purchased at MAC stores and on

I love this lipstick because it spreads the message that we are all beautiful. We all matter and we all deserve a chance. Caitlyn is selling so much more than a lipstick. She’s selling hope and I hope men and women will take a closer look at what she’s saying. Now go break the internet like your daughters, darling. This lipstick is hot!facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Kendall + Kylie spring collection hits Neiman Marcus stores today

I’m not a big Kardashian fan, but there is something undeniable about the fashion forward style of the youngest siblings, Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The sisters just launched an #OnlyatNM collection of clothing and accessories that are sophisticated, detailed and most importantly different than many other celebrity clothing lines.

“The collection is sophisticated, clean and beautifully tailored,” Kendall stated in a press release. “We wanted to widen our range of customers by introducing a more premium clothing line. We incorporated a lot of sophisticated and versatile pieces that were simple yet chic.”

From a black and white gingham halter top and cropped trouser set to waist tie silk skirts, unexpected denim pieces and off the shoulder dresses, Kendall + Kylie is a solid collection for the trend-conscious consumer. There are also several eye-catching shoe designs in the collection including strappy cutout heels and a pair of fringy flat sandals I couldn’t resist. At 5-foot-11, I’m always on the hunt for flats that don’t make me feel like a grandmother. Kendall + Kylie’s Tessa Fringe Suede Sandals in black are a fashionable find for $125. And they came in a size 11 to make my big feet happy! The sandals are extremely well made offering a plush, padded in-sole and a buttery, soft suede exterior. I very much wanted to own some part of the collection and this footwear was the perfect option since I was unsure of what size I might take in the clothing purchasing it online.

Although the collection was available in an advance sale to Neiman Marcus customers, it’s now available on and at Neiman Marcus stores beginning April 7.

From lace to the cold shoulder trend, the Jenner girls have demonstrated they have a true sense of fabrics and feminine style for not just a teenage following, but for a variety of style-savvy women. As a bonus, customers spending $500 or more on select women’s apparel and accessories will score a pair of Kendall + Kylie sunglasses.

To shop the entire collection, visit up a piece of this collection before Kendall + Kylie break the internet.

Rihanna launches beauty and stylist agency

Rihanna has found love in a hopeless place, survived a rocky relationship with Chris Brown and is now worth more than $90 million according to Forbes. The 27-year-old singer/songwriter has had an impressive career that’s included everything from music to fashion design. Now, Rihanna will be adding a new business venture, Fr8me, which will book makeup artists and stylists for commercials, editorial shoots, ad campaigns and more. Managing partner Benoit Demouy will help Rihanna run the new endeavor. It’s also going to give makeup artists who have gained a loyal following on social media a shot at the big time.

“Our goal is to have a stellar reputation,” Demouy said in an interview on “The industry’s changed so much — rates have gone down, and clients just grab images off social media, trying to bypass paying artists. But we’re concerned with social media, too — we’ll take a makeup artist with 500,000 followers over someone else.”facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Getting Goosebumps with Jack Black and the awesome cast at Four Seasons in Miami

Meeting Jack Black was something I never imagined would actually happen. Black came to Miami earlier this month with his Goosebumps co-stars Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush and Ryan Lee to promote the film at Four Seasons Miami. Black was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and as cool and laidback in person as I hoped he would be.

While I was a little too old for the Goosebumps series when it came out, I was an avid read of author R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series. I remember trading these books back and forth with my elementary school friend Aimee McPherrin Quigley. These books are such an essential piece of my childhood. It set the foundation for a lifetime of loving suspense and horror plots.

When Black took on the role of Stine, he said he actually met with the author to “get his creative notes and his blessing” before they started filming. facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

5 reasons country music needs Brad Paisley now more than ever

Few artists in country music can combine the magic of pop culture with the rhythm and roots of what makes the genre great. Brad Paisley is the exception. Paisley recently closed the first leg of his Crushin’ It Tour at Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach Oct. 3. This was my sixth time seeing Paisley live and his show never disappoints. Paisley pulled from his extensive catalog of hits including “Water,” “Celebrity,” “Beat This Summer,” “Perfect Storm,” “Ticks” and “Old Alabama.” Newcomer Mickey Guyton shined on her “Whiskey Lullaby” duet with Paisley. The angelic-voiced 32-year-old singer also opened for Paisley on this tour alongside Justin Moore, who revealed he just bought a home in Florida.

Here are 5 reasons Paisley is currently country music’s most valuable asset:

1. He is socially aware. Paisley is on top of national news trends as well as cultural issues. His 2009 album, American Saturday Night, was a love letter to the magical melting pot of America’s culture. He is erasing stereotypes in country music one lyric at a time with songs such as “Southern Comfort Zone” and “Accidental Racist,” where he addresses the controversy of the confederate flag, its different meanings and how leaving one’s comfort zone is the only way to grow and experience the world.

2. He’s a techie. Brad has been creating his own animation videos for concerts for years and doesn’t miss the chance to try out a new way to deliver a song. In lieu of a Carrie Underwood hologram he used for previous tours, he now sets up his duet on the road of “Remind Me” with Carrie as a FaceTime call on the big screen behind him. On the Crushin’ It Tour, Paisley also introduced a segment of the show where he invites a fan to come on stage to play Mario Kart. “This is what happens when a bunch of rednecks get a 60 foot television screen,” Paisley joked at the West Palm beach show. He’s also known to take selfies with fans in the middle of song or grab their cell phone or video camera to records some once in a lifetime videos on.

3. He’s not afraid to break new artists. Paisley always tours with special guests and typically invites these guys to perform a song or two with him during his own set. Paisley has toured with everyone from Taylor Swift and Easton Corbin to Guyton, who rocked Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre Oct. 3.

4. He doesn’t forget where he comes from. For every concert, Paisley always makes a point to travel to the back of the venue to play for the people in back where he said once sat for concerts.

5. He can really play guitar and he never holds back at live shows. While many famous musical artists who are mainly vocalists who use a guitar as a mere prop they occasionally strum melodies on, Paisley really plays his fleet of Fender Telecasters. He’ll throw in random riffs from “Foxy Lady” or “Hot For Teacher” and always uses a bottle of beer to play slide guitar on his usual closing song, “Alcohol.”

The Crushin’ It World tour picks up again Jan. 21, 2016 in Arkansas.

Amy Schumer drops plenty of vagina jokes at the Oddball Comedy Festival in West Palm Beach, FL

_1430252992When your friend buys an extra ticket to see Amy Schumer and asks you to go, you grab life by its big beautiful balls and you seize that opportunity. Such was the case when my very fabulous friend, Kari Barnett, asked me to accompany her to the Funny or Die Oddball Comedy Festival at Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla. I have never seen a comedy show in a venue as large at Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre. At first, I was worried the laughs would never make it to the middle of the ginormous amphitheatre let alone the lawn or hand job hill, as emcee and roast king Jeff Ross deemed it. But it worked and dear God, did we laugh all night long.

Frankly, I needed it. Life has been even weirder than usual lately, so it’s nice to just sit back sometimes and laugh at someone else’s insanity. In addition to Schumer’s stellar set, which included everything from baby jokes to Michelle Obama’s post-sex strut to the master bathroom in The White House, there were some other bombshells unleashed on the crowd. Bridget Everett didn’t disappoint when she declared “You may not know me, but you’ll never forget me.” The six-foot-tall buxom blonde went braless for her set which included, parody songs, dance and plenty of motor boating men in the crowd.

Dozens of comedians performed throughout the festival with a variety of sets as well as musical numbers to please a plethora of comedic appetites. It was truly a festival and an oddball one at that.

Aziz Ansari closed the show with a sidesplitting routine on his two year relationship and how he wishes his girlfriend would just invest in her own toothpaste and stop stealing his. But let’s get back to the wonder of Schumer. Here are five reasons I am so glad she’s in the spotlight.

  1. She is totally famous now but she is not taking it for granted. The 34-year-old comedian who had a box office hit with the recent rom-com Trainwreck said during her stand up show in West Palm, “I know I’ll only be famous for like a year or something, so I’m trying to enjoy it while I can.”
  2. She’s not afraid to go there…about anything. Even the most taboo topic is not off limits for Schumer. That’s hot and refreshing.
  3. She’s real. Amy was visibly sweating in the South Florida heat just a few minutes into her set and asked for a towel almost immediately. She asked patrons not to snap photos of her looking like a hot, sweaty mess because she knew they’d surface by morning anyway and they didn’t have to waste their time.
  4. She admits she’s 160 pounds and said she ‘can Catch a d**k whenever she wants.'” Let’s face it, 160 pounds in anorexic Hollywood might as well be 260 pounds. Amy is 5-foot-7 and at a normal weight for her height. She is beautiful and a great role model for body-conscious women of all ages.
  5. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and voice her opinion even on hot button issues like gun control. Schumer teamed up with her cousin Chuck Schumer to push for stricter gun laws after two women were shot dead by a suicidal gunman after a Louisiana showing of her film Trainwreck.
