Summertime and the living is easy with these seasonal treats

IMG_8025Starbucks Raspberry Swirl Pound Cake is my most favorite loaf cake in the entire world. I first discovered it roughly a decade ago at a Starbucks on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. It’s the perfect summer cake with sweet raspberries and vanilla icing. I had my first piece of 2015 last night at a Target Starbucks before hosting the 2015 High School Journalism Awards. This cake always sells out and is just sweet enough to satisfy sugary cravings without completely sabotaging my diet.

Being a mother to a 7-month-old now, I truly look forward to my morning cup of coffee. Sometimes that cup happens at 4 a.m. and if I’m lucky, around 7 or 8 a.m. Each day, I stumble over to my Keurig machine and wait for the elixir to collect in my cup that will make me a functioning human being again. And I also admit, I’m a sucker for a seasonal item. We don’t have have seasons in South Florida. It’s either hot and raining or just hot. I have lived in South Florida for the majority of my life and I’ve simulated seasons through scents at Yankee Candle and seasonal foods and coffees. I always dreamed of being wealthy enough to escape to a Lake house where I’d be surrounded by Pottery Barn furniture and accessories and drink a freshly brewed cup of coffee in a pristine white mug. I can fuel my fantasy with Green Mountain Coffee’s Summer Sunrise Blend. This limited edition medium roast coffee is a bright blend of light floral and citrus notes. It’s Fair Trade Certified and after just a few sips, I feel instantly transported to my lake house where I will sip coffee and work on my novel all day in peace.facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather
